The operator of Dublin’s light rail network, Transdev Dublin Light Rail Limited, has been awarded a new five-year operating contract.
Transdev will continue to be responsible for operating and maintaining the Luas tram system after its existing contract expires on September 28.
Announcing the start of the new Luas Operating Contract, the operator said it expects the network to return to an operating surplus in 2015.
Rory O’Connor, acting chief executive of Railway Procurement Agency (RPA), and Gerry Murphy, chief executive of the National Transport Authority (NTA) said in a statement: “Transdev submitted a very strong proposal in terms of both price and quality.
“Luas customers can look forward to some significant positive changes in their Luas journey in the coming year.”
