Talgo has signed a letter of intent with Turkish manufacturer Tümosan to cooperate on high-speed rail projects in the country.
Turkey is looking increase the involvement of domestic companies in the development of its high-speed rail network, as it aims to build around 10,000 kilometres of new railway between now and 2023.
Talgo and Tümosan, which manufactures tractors and diesel engines, plan to jointly participate in a planned tender for 90 high-speed trains for Turkey State Railways (TCDD) – an order valued at around €3 billion.
Over the course of the next 10 years, the partnership is estimated to be worth in the region of €3-4 billion.
