Strukton Rail has won a €50 million contract to maintain the railway surrounding Malmö, Sweden.
The contract, which starts on September 1, covers a five-year period plus an option for a further two years.
Awarded by Swedish infrastructure manager Trafikverket, the agreement will see Strukton Rail maintaining 360 kilometres of railway in the south of the country, including between Simrishamn and Arlöv, the Ystad Line between Malmö and Ystad, the route between Arlöv – Malmö – Lockarp and sections of the freight line through Skåne.
Strukton will be responsible for maintenance of the track as well as electrification and signalling systems.
Alf Karlsson, regional manager at Strukton Rail, said: “We are very pleased with the job as it is of great strategic importance for us. The contract allows us to further develop our business in the south of Sweden and strengthen our presence in Scandinavia’s most expansive region.”
