SNCF to support development of Corsican rail network

Listen to this article

SNCF has been appointed to provide technical support to Corsica’s rail operator CFC.

The contract will run for the next three years and will see SNCF sharing its engineering expertise and training services.

As well as training CFC staff, SNCF will advise on operational issues, the maintenance of rolling stock and infrastructure and future procurement activities.

The Corsican Regional Authority took ownership of the network in 2002 from the French government.

SNCF, which was responsible for operating services in Corsica until 2012, will work alongside CFC to develop plans that are already in place to modernise the network and upgrade the island’s rolling stock fleet.
