Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has placed a CHF 120 million order for four more ETR 610 tilting trains.
The new cross-border train sets are a stop-gap solution to meet the demand for traffic between Switzerland and Italy before the arrival of 29 new high-speed trains from Stadler in 2019.
SBB will use the new sets to meet the increase in services between Geneva and Milan created by the opening of the Gotthard Base tunnel at the end of 2016.
