The Mayor of Marseille, Jean-Claude Gaudin, has opened a 1.2-kilometre extension of the city’s T3 tram line.
The new section of line takes the line south beyond Canebière in Marseille’s historic quarter to Place Castellane, where it connects to the city’s metro network.
Testing began in April with the signalling and power systems. Trial services began at the start of May.
The extension includes five new stations. Service frequencies will vary from every 6-7 minutes on weekdays to every 12-15 minutes on Sunday’s.
