Europe’s fastest train, the Frecciarossa 1000, has premiered at InnoTrans 2014 following years of build up from manufacturers AnsaldoBreda and Bombardier.
The eight-car electric-multiple unit (EMU), which is expected to be put into service on the Rome-Milan corridor by Trenitalia in 2015, is certified for speeds up to 360 km/h but is capable of 400 km/h running.
Based on the V300 Zefiro platform, the Frecciarossa 1000 made its first appearance at InnoTrans in 2010 where Bombardier and AnsaldoBreda presented a miniature model of their new high-speed concept.
