The Franche-Comté region has inaugurated its first Régiolis train set for the Dôle-Besançon line.

The region has ordered nine four-car trains for the Dijon-Besançon-Belfort line. Delivery of the new units is scheduled for completion in 2017.

Through SNCF, the French regions have ordered 184 Régiolis trains to date. Franche-Comté has hinted that it plans to order another seven trains on top of this.

Alstom has developed 56, 72 and 110-metre variants of the Régiolis to meet the requirements of the different regions.
