Dragados and Flatiron, a subsidiary of Hochtief, has won a $1.23 billion contract to construct the Central Valley section of California’s high-speed railway.
The joint venture will build a 97-kilometre portion of the line, which will link Los Angeles and San Francisco, through the state’s Central Valley.
Construction will begin in late-2016, following an 18-month design phase. The scheme is due to be completed in 2020.
The route will include at-grade and elevated sections. Works will include realigning around 9 kilometres of existing railway.
Last week, a Parsons Brinckerhoff-led team, which included Network Rail Consulting, was awarded a $700 million contract to act as the Rail Delivery Partner (RDP) for the project.
