Network Rail has awarded a £15 million signalling contract to Balfour Beatty.

The framework for the London Bridge Area Signalling-Related Civils Minor Works is worth around £15 million and covers the lineside civil engineering elements of the signalling scope for Thameslink Key Output 2 programme.

Balfour Beatty Rail will be responsible for the procurement, design, installation and commissioning of new signal structures, refurbishment of existing structures; ground works and foundations, under track and under road crossings (UTXs and URXs); SPT and drivers’ walkways; REB bases and compounds; troughing routes and cable management systems and minor building works to the London Bridge Area Signalling Centre.

Mark Bullock, managing director of Balfour Beatty Rail, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this framework contract and very much look forward to continuing our long-term relationship with Network Rail’s Thameslink team.

“By integrating the civil engineering works with our existing track project at London Bridge it means we can reduce the number of interfaces, optimise the use of critical resources and offer a single management structure with a co-ordinated approach to the delivery of this important programme of works.”
