Demikhovsky Engineering Plant, part of CJSC Transmshholding, has started to deliver new EMUs to Russian Railways.

The ED4M DC electric trains have seen ‘substantial engineering upgrades’ and changes to the interior, CCTV and air conditioning.

The electric train is designed to carry passengers by suburban transit systems on electrified sections of lines with 1,520 mm track gauge and 3000V DC systems.

The trains are also equipped with a new on-board technical monitoring system. The system uses a wireless network to transfer information to staff at the nearest depot who are responsible for the EMU’s diagnostics.

The first trains of the new ED4M’s will be operated on Moscow’s rail network.
