Rosemor International has the solution for dirty escalators

Listen to this article

A new machine that cleans the horizontal and vertical parts of an escalator step simultaneously is now in use on Britain’s railway network.

Keeping moving stairways clean has become increasingly challenging as passenger numbers continue to surge on the railway. Rosemor International thinks it may have the answer. The Rotomac is an automatic escalator deep cleaning machine, already in use at airports, shopping malls and railway stations in the UK and around the world.

Says managing director, Efi Rosen, ‘We know public demand for hygiene and comfort continues to rise. Grime and dirt are bad for business, bad for safety and maintenance. Our Rotomac 360 and Rotofast 560 clean-machines are designed to help railway cleaning staff work far more effectively.

‘The places where we are already using these machines are busy airport concourses, retail stores and metro stations – often deep underground. We have designed a system that doesn’t just rely on line of sight to clean but cleans up and down and horizontally. It’s safe and it’s fast.’

Precision-engineered

Established in 1985 Rosemor International specialises in the manufacture and supply of precision – engineered automatic escalator cleaning equipment. The company provides second-to-none industry expertise in the cleaning equipment market.

‘We pride ourselves on offering our customers industry-leading products and systems, supported with expert advice and service. The Rotomac is, I believe, the only machine in the world that has been built to clean the horizontal and vertical parts of an escalator step simultaneously.

‘This machine has already proved to be successful and has been supplied, in addition to the Rotofast 560, to over 35 countries worldwide, including most of Europe, the USA, China, South Africa, Trinidad, Singapore and Australia,’ says Efi Rosen.

The company has earned a good reputation by supplying most major airports in the UK as well as escalator and travelator manufacturers, major cleaning contractors, such as ISS, OCS and Mitie, and public service provider Amey. This has enabled it to expand not only nationwide but also globally.

Officially endorsed

Rosemor has been approved by Network Rail and currently has its Rotomac machines running at Victoria, London Bridge, St. Pancras, Gatwick, Reading, Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Metro station. They are looking to expand and supply all stations in the UK and improve the reputation and cleanliness of UK stations.

Rosemor’s products have been tested and officially endorsed by the world’s leading manufacturers. They enable dramatic cost savings compared with conventional cleaning methods and they clean the step and riser of the escalator right to the edges. There is no need to remove steps, as the cleaning is done in-situ so that overnight cleaning can be carried out ensuring that the escalator is ready for traffic at the start of the day.

The Rotomac 360 and Rotofast 560 can also efficiently and effectively remove grease, spillage, stones, foreign objects, hardened sand and grinding paste (spillage combined with grease). They will not dilute the lubrication of the escalator mechanism, and they can eliminate the danger of chains rusting, motors burning out and damage to the electrical circuits of the escalators.

In addition, premises with clean escalators are more appealing and better for business.

The cleaning process is extremely simple for users

The Rotofast 560 deep cleans and dries travelator or escalator steps giving a good, refurbished appearance. The Rotofast quickly removes years of heavy dirt, leaving the surfaces looking like new. The cleaning process is extremely simple for users. Four counter-rotating brushes reach deep into the grooves achieving results never before realised in this field.

A powerful vortex recovery system provides the suction leaving the surface 100% dry and ready for immediate use. As a result of the machine’s speed and high performance, there is no longer a need to clean out of hours or close escalators or travelators for long periods of time.

Rosemor considers it extremely important that its customers use the machines safely and achieve optimum results, with minimum expense.

Full and extensive training courses are offered to ensure that operators are confident and that maximum results are achieved.
