Network Rail staff give Cromford station a facelift

Track and the disused platform at Cromford station have been given a facelift through the attentions of Network Rail staff.

The track was cleaned up when trains were not running on Saturday night. The local maintenance team then turned out in force this week to clear the disused platform.

Steve Hughes, infrastructure maintenance delivery manager at Derby, said: “Cromford Station has recently been transformed by Arkwright Society. They have restored the station buildings to their former glory and as a team we wanted to show our support for their hard work. For safety reasons, there are parts of the infrastructure non-railway staff cannot access, so we agreed to clear the old platform area to help to show the station at its best.

“The Derby team regularly removes rubbish from the network as part of their day to day responsibilities. The, slightly damp, day at Cromford gave us chance to thank the society for their work by getting the whole team involved in the station tidy up.”
