ZSSK builds on EMU order

A Slovakian rail operator has extended its order for 10 double-deck EMUs from manufacturer Škoda.

ZSSK has ordered another three-car 671 series vehicle, with an option for eight more.

The deal was announced as the 10th unit of the original order arrived in Bratislava.

Škoda was awarded the contract for 10 vehicles in 2009. Testing was carried out the following year, with the first new EMU arriving in Slovakia in 2011.

The first of the new vehicles is expected to arrive next summer.
