Virgin extends Super Voyager maintenance contract with Bombardier

Listen to this article

Bombardier will continue to maintain Virgin Trains’ fleet of 20 Super Voyager trains until 2019 after agreeing to extend the current agreement.

The £103 million deal, which follows the announcement last week that Virgin would continue operating the West Coast franchise until 2017, supports 340 jobs at Bombardier’s Central Rivers depot in Burton on Trent.

Des McKeon, commercial director UK, Bombardier Transportation, said: “The further extension of this key contract endorses yet again the strong relationship that we have built with our customer, Virgin Trains.

“By the end of this extension we will have been successfully maintaining their trains for nearly 20 years, delivering excellent performance of the Voyager fleet on the prestigious West Coast route.”
