Vestfold Line upgrade moves forward

Listen to this article

Implenia has picked up a series of contracts for the construction of a new 23 km railway between Farriseidet and Porsgrunn in Norway.

As well the double-track railway line, Implenia has been awarded the contract to build the Eidanger tunnel along the route of the new line.

The Farriseidet-Porsgrunn line is the latest phase of a 100 million euro modernisation of the Vestfold Line.

The line’s ageing infrastructure is being upgraded to increase capacity and allow an increase in the maximum operating speed.

Work is expected to begin in September and is scheduled for completion in June 2016.
