Turkish state railways (TCDD) has awarded Indra a €43 million contract to develop a system to manage the operational planning for country’s entire rail network.
The system, which will cover Turkey’s conventional and high-speed rail system, will cover traffic planning and management, setting technical standards for future lines and managing the running of the existing network.
Indra will establish a new control center in Ankara, which will also manage the planning of all new high-speed lines scheduled to be commissioned before 2016.
Indra said it believes by winning this contract it is well placed to have its system integrated into future extensions of Turkey’s fast-growing high-speed railway.
In July, a 500-kilometre high-speed railway between Ankara and Istanbul was officially opened. This line will eventually be extended to Istanbul and there are further high-speed corridors planned between Ankara-Sivas and Istanbul-Esmirna.
