Trimble wins Network Rail approval

Listen to this article

Network Rail has approved Trimble’s GEDO Vorsys system for use on the UK’s railway network.

Approval of the pre-measurement system for tamper machines follows Trimble’s GEDO Track Measuring Device (TMD) which was given the green light in 2010.

Development of the Trimble GEDO TMD began in Germany in the early 1990s as a result of German rail authority, Deutsche Bahn’s, desire to build high-spec slab track outside of tunnels on main-lines.

Since its introduction in 2008, more than 40 systems have been sold worldwide.

Korec is one of Trimble’s largest distributors worldwide

Korec rail consultant Matthew Lock said: “The acceptance of the Trimble GEDO Vorsys by Network Rail is excellent news and will build on the success of the current Trimble GEDO TMD.

“The Vorsys principle is tried, tested and trusted throughout the world and offers Permanent Way engineers and surveyors a fast and efficient way of generating digital tamper files along with a variety of track quality reports.”
