Stockholm light rail extension opens

An extension of Stockholm’s light rail network has opened between Alvik and Solna.

The new 7-kilometre line, which includes seven new stops, opened to passengers on October 27.

A section of the route features an 800-metre tunnel beneath Traneberg.

Trams will leave from Alvik and Solna every 15 minutes but passengers looking to travel on the existing network will need to change at Alvik because of lack of compatibility between the new and old signalling systems.
