Île-de-France transport authority STIF and SNCF have committed €210 million to purchase 22 new Francilien commuter trains.
The new trains – the cost of which will be split 50/50 between the two authorities – will be manufactured by Bombardier.
In 2006, STIF and SNCF ordered 172 new Francilien trains, totalling €1.85 billion. The order included an option for 200 more trains.
The trainsets from this latest order will be distributed across lines H and K of the region’s suburban Transilien network by the end of 2016.
