South West Rail Link opens year early

The $1.8 billion South West Rail Link has opened to passengers in Sydney’s suburbs a year earlier than originally planned.

NSW Premier Mike Baird and Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian opened the 11.4-kilometre link between Leppington and Glenfield, via Edmondson Park, on February 8.

The opening ceremony follows three years of construction work and testing.

Passengers using the South West Rail Link will be able to change trains at either Glenfield or Liverpool for services to Sydney’s CBD, Parramatta and the airport.
