Alstom and SNCF have signed a deal exercising an option from an order in 2007 for 40 Euroduplex high-speed trains.

The new trains will add extra capacity to France’s intercity network and eventually transport passengers on new routes from Paris to Barcelona and Zurich.

Alstom has so far delivered 21 double-deck Euroduplex trains to serve France’s high-speed lines.

In 2007, SNCF placed an order for 55 trains with an option for 40 additional vehicles.

The extra trains have now been confirmed and are expected to be delivered between 2015 and 2019.
