The National Belgian Railway Company (SNCB) has fined Siemens €1.7 million for failing to meet delivery targets for its new fleet of T18 locomotives.

Between 2006 and 2008, SNCB placed two orders worth €440 million for a total of 120 EuroSprinter locomotives which would operate cross-border services as well as on the high-speed line between Brussels and Liège.

Delivery of the full fleet was due to be completed by late 2012.

With four locomotives still outstanding, SNCB has issued the manufacturer with a €1.7 million fine.
