SNCF has exercised an option for 19 more regional Francilien electric multiple unit (EMU).

Financed by Syndicat des transports d’Ile-de-France (STIF), the order is an option on an earlier framework contract for up to 372 trains signed in 2006.

Following an initial order for 172 trains, SNCF exercised an option for 22 additional trains last year.

The €127 million order will be funded by STIF and serve on the SNCF Transilien line L.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin by the end of 2016.

Currently, 155 Francilien trains operate from Gare du Nord, Gare de L’Est, and Gare Saint-Lazare stations.
