NXEA partnership delivers new shelter for Ingatestone

Listen to this article

National Express East Anglia and the Anglo-European school in Ingatestone have officially unveiled a smart new waiting shelter at Ingatestone station, Essex.

The idea for the waiting shelter came from two students at the Anglo-European School who decided to raise money for the shelter as part of their Citizenship studies.

They quickly raised the funds through successful applications for grants and Essex County Council agreed to fund the installation costs.

Petrina Murphy National Express East Anglia Area Manager said:

“We are pleased to open this new shelter at Ingatestone station. The students of the Anglo-European school have shown great initiative in their fundraising and we are grateful for their efforts.

“Students at the school will benefit from this shelter for a long time to come.”

Currently in excess of 450 pupils travel to and from the school each day by train and the new shelter will provide for cover from the weather and help to enhance facilities at the station.
