Bombardier and Thales have been awarded a contract by Spain’s high-speed rail infrastructure manager, ADIF Velocidad, to deploy ETCS Level 1 between Valencia and Vandellos.

The €29.6 million agreement will involve the rollout of ETCS on a 210-kilometre section of the Mediterranean Corridor.

Bombardier will provide its Interflo system for the 60-kilometre segment between Valencia Nord and Burriana, while Thales will overlay its AlTrac ERTMS solution on the the larger 150-kilometre line between Villareal and Vandellos and its Central Post system across the whole route.

The installation of modern signalling is part of an overall modernisation of the line.
