Manufacturers drop legal dispute over new NS Sprinters

Alstom and Bombardier have dropped a lawsuit against Nederlandse Spoorwegen’s (NS) over its 60-train order with Swiss manufacturer Stadler.

In December, the two companies had said they planned to pursue legal action against Dutch Railways after it directly awarded Stadler a contract for next-generation Sprinter electric multiple units (EMU).

In a statement, NS has now confirmed that it is able to go ahead with the order after being informed that the lawsuit had been dropped.

NS said it had awarded the contract as a direct award to ensure delivery of the new trains in 2016.
