Listen to this article

Hyundai Rotem has transported the first of 66 new rail cars to Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD).

The new Eagle P3 rail cars, which have been manufactured in South Korea and assembled in Philadelphia, will be put into operation on RTD’s commuter rail network in 2016.

The new fleet will serve four FasTracks lines: the East Rail Line to Denver International Airport, the Northwest Rail Line to Westminster, the Gold Line to Arvada/Wheat Ridge and the North Metro Rail Line to Thornton.

Around $6.5 billion is being invested in public transport as part of the FasTracks Program, which includes the construction of 122 miles of new commuter rail and light rail track.
