Hanover’s public transport operator, Üstra Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe (Üstra), has confirmed an order for 50 additional light rail vehicles from manufacturers Vossloh Kiepe and Alstom.
On November 15, Üstra exercised an option for an extra 50 vehicles to coincide with the arrival of the first TW 3000 tram from the original order placed in 2011.
Üstra has now committed to 100 new light rail vehicles, with an option for 46 more still outstanding, to replace Hanover’s 30-year-old TW 6000 fleet.
The first of 50 already in production has been transported to Hanover from Leipzig and will now complete dynamic testing ahead of planned operation next year.
