Gawler line electrification gets the go ahead

Listen to this article

Adelaide’s transport leaders pledged $152.4 million over three years to restart the electrification on the city’s Gawler line.

Presenting the 2013-14 state budget, the Government of South Australia said there was now ‘room in the budget’ to resume the programme which had to be put on hold last year.

Work is expected to begin on the project, which will enable the introduction of a new fleet of electric trains, in November this year.
