FOSD to hold post conference debate

Listen to this article

Following the success of the second Future of Station Design conference held earlier this year, key topics and discussion points raised will be the platform at the FOSD post conference debate.

The networking event and luncheon will take place at the Network Rail Boardroom, Paddington Station on Friday 16th September 2011.

The aim of the event is to analyse what was discussed at conference this year. It will also give delegates the chance to delve deeper into issues, and ask additional questions to industry heads.

Speakers at conference Tony Lacy from Atos, Anthony Smith, Passenger Focus and Gavin McKechnie from Network Rail lead the discussion on the passenger experience and satisfaction from a technology and information standpoint.

This was coupled with the need to improve overall experience in terms of environment and retail offer.

In light of recent events in London and throughout the UK, safety is at the forefront of passenger’s minds.

FOSD have therefore invited Commend UK who are responsible for considerable technological advances with help points, and communications on station platforms to conduct a brief presentation at the luncheon.

Commend UK design and manufacture intercom solutions for distribution worldwide and have supplied well over 50,000 complete systems in the last 10 years.

London Underground are currently working with Commend to improve the systems in place and passenger’s personal security.

Commend UK’s  Managing Director Greg Gregoriou said:

‘“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to be part of the FOSD conference. Rail is a key market for our Help Points and Communications Systems. We see this as an excellent platform for professionals within the Rail Industry to meet and share ideas.”

Some of the attendees include TfL, FCC, Mersey Rail, McAslan + Partners, Telent, Network Rail and Bailey Rail. Julie Ryan of FCC said:

“I am looking forward to working with the FOSD who I feel benefits the Rail industry by sharing their thoughts and ideas to determine future strategy. By cross TOC and industry body working we gain the opportunity to introduce best practice and ensure what we do benefits both the industry and the customer.”

FOSD aim to be a voice for station design and management and to create debate and relevant discussion on factors affecting customers and management.

The launch of FOSD 2012 will be held at the St Pancras Grand Champagne Bar on Friday 18th November.
