Final Citadis tram delivered to Nottingham

Listen to this article

The last of Nottingham’s new Citadis trams has arrived in the city from Alstom’s factory in Barcelona.

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) has now taken delivery of all 22 light rail vehicles from Alstom.

Five of the new Citadis trams are already in passenger service on Line 1. The remaining 17 trams are currently undergoing testing before going into commercial operation next year.

The new units will serve passengers across Nottingham’s tram network which from early next year will include extensions south and south west of the city’s railway station to Clifton and Beeston.

NET is operating a mixed fleet of original Adtranz stock and the new Citadis vehicles, both of which are being maintained by Alstom.

Terence Watson, Alstom UK president, said: “We’re delighted to have delivered the final Citadis for Nottingham, especially as the Citadis trams, which have been specially customised in the distinct and stylish NET tram brand, are becoming a more common sight on the city’s streets.

“The process of testing the Citadis and getting them into service is going extremely well and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with the city.”
