Vossloh España has received an order for seven more Class 68 locomotives from Direct Rail Services (DRS), taking its fleet to 32 vehicles.

DRS has already received all 15 high-powered locomotives from its initial order and has since exercised an option for 10 more, the first of which is due to be delivered “in the coming months”.

“This third contract will bring DRS’ fleet of UKLIGHT locomotives to 32 units as it impressively proves the high trust of DRS and Beacon Rail Leasing into Vossloh,” said Iñigo Parra, chief executive of Vossloh España.

Acquired through ROSCO Beacon Rail Leasing, the diesel-electric locomotives will be used to operate passenger and freight services.
