Dispute board to be set up for North West Rail Link

It has been reported that a Dispute Resolution Board is ‘likely’ to be set up during the construction of Sydney’s North West Rail Link to make sure that no disputes hold up the process.

A DRB panel consists of three impartial reviewers who aim to solve problems between disputing parties during the construction of projects like the North West Rail Link.

Nick Greiner, the head of Infrastructure NSW, has said that there have been 30 DRBs used for projects in Australia and New Zealand since 1987.

“In that time they have prevented dozens and dozens of issues from escalating into disputes.

“It is inevitable that DRBs grow in popularity in this state.

“The current South West Rail project already has three DRBs in place.

“The North West Rail Link, which is being prepared at the moment, is expected to use DRBs on its major contracts.”
