New pictures show engineers working on the East Side Access project in the man-made caverns beneath Grand Central Terminal in New York.

A subterranean concourse is currently under construction to connect the Long Island Rail Road’s (LIRR) Main and Port Washington lines in Queens with the Manhattan station.

New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has also announced that it has awarded a contract for the station finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, ancillary buildings and entrances for the future Second Avenue Subway 72nd Street Station to Judlau Contracting.

The contract is part of another huge capital construction project in the city – the $4.45 billion Q Line extension along Second Avenue.
