Logistics provider DHL is to offer a new weekly rail freight service between China and Europe.

The block train service will connect Suzhou with the Polish capital, Warsaw, along the trans-Siberian corridor, adding to DHL’s existing weekly services from Shanghai and Chengdu.

The average journey time from Suzhou to Warsaw will be 14 days, DHL has said.

Roger Crook, chief executive of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight, said: “Suzhou is a strategic departure point for Jiangsu and it is a huge benefit for our customers to have direct access to inter-continental rail links rather than having to go via Chengdu.

“Being able to offer multiple loading points across China creates many opportunities for our customers which is why we are seeing so much interest in multimodal services.”
