Designs for final section of New York’s High Line unveiled

Listen to this article

Designs have been unveiled for the third and final section of the High Line by New York City park officials.

The High Line is a one mile long linear park built on a section of the former elevated New York Central Railroad spur called the West Side Line.

It currently goes from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 30th Street in Chelsea.

The recycling of the railway into an urban park has spurred real estate development in the neighborhoods which lie along the line.

This final section will be situated around the Hudson Rail Yards between West 30th and West 34th streets.

Officials said this section will cost around £90 million and could be open for spring 2014
