Deutsche Bahn (DB) has placed an order for 26 new LINK diesel-multiple units (DMUs) from Polish manufacturer Pesa.

The new vehicles, which will operate services in Bavaria, have been procured under a €1.2 billion framework contract signed between the two organisations in 2012.

DB announced the order at the InnoTrans 2014 trade fair where Pesa is displaying its first completed DMU car for the German operator.

The first order to be placed under the framework contract, which could amount to 470 new trains by 2018, was announced in November last year.

The first three-car train from this latest order is expected to enter service in Allgäu from late 2017.
