Deutsche Bahn (DB) train drivers are to stage a four-day strike later this week described by the operator as the longest in the organisation’s history.
GDL announced the strike after talks broke down between the union and DB on November 4. The union is seeking a five per cent pay increase and a shorter working week for its members.
DB said the industrial action will “paralyse” the country as it prepares to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The strike will take place from 2 am on Thursday, November 6, to 4 am on Sunday, November 10. DB said a replacement schedule will be put into action throughout the strike.
