The first of 18 new Solaris Tramino trams made a late-night debut in the German city of Braunschweig.
Public transport operator Braunschweiger Verkehrs-AG took delivery of the first vehicle last week. The remaining 17 trams will arrive in the city by 2015.
Braunschweig is the second German city to order Solaris trams. The medieval town of Jena ordered five Tramino vehicles from Solaris in 2011.
The uni-directional vehicle consists four cars, each with a centrally mounted bogie. The low-floor trams also come fitted with air conditioning and regenerative braking systems.
