Bombardier has won a contract to supply up to 156 new low-floor Flexity trams for Vienna’s public transport operator, Wiener Linien.
The new units will arrive in the city from 2018, replacing the current high-floor E2 trams.
Bombardier will build the new vehicles, which can carry 214 passengers, at its site in Vienna.
The €562 million order includes maintenance of the new trams once delivery is complete in 2026.
Wiener Linien has said further details will be made public at the conclusion of a 10-day standstill period.
