Bombardier has begun a five-year operating contract for British Columbia’s West Coast Express commuter rail system.

As well as supplying the double-deck carriages that makes up the West Coast Express fleet, Bombardier will now operate the system for British Columbia Rapid Transit Co. Ltd (BCRTC) – an operating subsidiary of TransLink.

The system, which serves British Columbia’s Lower Mainland region, opened in 1995 and connects Vancouver with Mission City.

Raymond Bachant, president of Bombardier Transportation Americas, said: “Bombardier is proud to support and partner with West Coast Express in its efforts to further enhance its reputation for reliability and outstanding customer service.

“All our employees are committed to offering safe, high-quality, on-time train performance to the passengers of West Coast Express”
