BMT Fleet Technology Ltd, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has been awarded two maintenance improvement contracts by VIA Rail Canada.
The results ‘will help VIA Rail Canada improve levels of performance and availability across its fleet, while reducing costs’.
BMT Fleet Technology of Ottawa, Ontario will use specialist technical expertise from sister BMT companies including BMT Reliability Consultants Ltd and BMT Isis Ltd to conduct a condition based maintenance pilot study (CBM) and a maintenance strategy review (MSR).
The CBM project focuses on VIA Rail Canada’s fleet of GPA-30H locomotives.
The MSR project will investigate how maintenance is currently carried out on VIA Rail Canada’s GPA-30H locomotives, LRC railcars and Renaissance railcars and will recommend an optimised maintenance strategy to encourage continuous improvement through well-defined and currently used best practise.
The CBM project will run until October 2012 while the MSR project will continue in stages through to April 2013.
