Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has awarded Alstom a contract to supply and install track for the new line 7 metro.
The €25 million deal will require Alstom to supply, install, test and commission around 30 kilometres of concrete and ballast track across a mixture of elevated and underground sections of the route.
Line 7 is one of two new lines being constructed in Delhi as part of the Delhi Metro Phase III project. Expected to open in early 2017, line 7 is 59 kilometres long and includes 38 stations.
The contract builds on Alstom’s existing presence in India. The French multinational recently opened a new train manufacturing site at Sri City.
Alstom already has a facility specialising in traction systems in Coimbatore and a signalling unit in Bangalore.
