Although SNCB Logistics now have operational power, including management staff levels, the maintenance of stations and rolling stock will be designated to SNCB Technics.

This restructure was approved by the Belgian government and the European Commission. It was initiated three years ago to save the deficit SNCB freight service. The Belgian government were able to give financial support on the condition that freight operations were moved to an independent company.

SNCB Logistics will not be making any compulsory redundancies.
