Tube drivers confirm Boxing Day strike

London Underground drivers have announced three days of industrial, including Boxing Day, in a row over holiday pay.

Train drivers’ union ASLEF has said that 90 per cent of members who voted were in favour of industrial action on December 26, January 18 and January 25.

General Secretary Mick Whelan said: “This result shows the strength of feeling among our tube driver members.

“We are seeking quite reasonable assurances: that working on this day will be voluntary and that those who do attend will be adequately compensated. It is beyond belief that management cannot make an offer that achieves these points.”
