Ellie Simmonds in train naming honour

Southeastern has named one of its Javelin trains after four-time Paralympic gold medallist Ellie Simmonds.

The Javelins – the UK’s first and only domestic high speed service – shuttled over 2.4 million spectators to and from the Olympic Park over the Games period.

Ellie visited St Pancras International yesterday (March 26) to meet Southeastern managing director Charles Horton and some of the employees who voted for the 18 year old to receive the honour.

Miss Simmons said: “It’s really exciting to see my name and signature on the side of a Javelin train.

“I’m told all the employees at Southeastern picked me to be named on the train, so I’d like to thank them all especially – it’s a huge honour.”
