Skoda Vagonka to supply Czech Railways with EMUs

Czech Railways (CD) have awarded contracts to Škoda Vagonka to supply new single-floor EMUs. The contract consists of the supply of fifteen three-carriage and four two-carriage units.

The new trains will be used for public transport in the Usti, Pardubice, Hradec Kralove, Olomouc, and Southern Bohemia regions. It is intended that the new rolling stock will replace CD’s current Class 460 EMUs.

The contract for the supply of 15 pieces of three-carriage units is worth CZK 2,063 million. The value of the contract for the supply of two-carriage units is CZK 448 million.

The contracts are being co-financed by Regional Operational Programmes of the EU, amounting to up to 40%.

The first train should be supplied in the second half of 2012 and all trains are to be delivered by spring 2014.
