A team of five, including the managing director of Kelly Integrated Transport Services, John Tuite, are on their way to the Alps to tackle Mont Blanc.
Along with fellow climbing newcomers Dave Burgess, Chris Lukehurst, Matt Sercombe and John Westwood, Tuite will traverse the mountain range this weekend to raise money for the Railway Children charity.
During the trip, the team will learn ice climbing techniques before attempting to summit Mont Blanc – the tallest mountain in the EU at 4,810 metres
Before jetting off John told Rail.co: “The altitude and weather present the largest risks to our summit attempt. The air is thinner at altitude, with each lungful of air supplying less oxygen to us, our bodies will have to work harder to maintain the supply.
“It’s going to be a real challenge but we have trained hard, we are very committed and will give it our absolute best effort to support the charity.
All donations go directly to the charity, with expenses such as equipment and travel funded by the team.
