Lifesavers to receive special recognition at RailStaff Awards

Listen to this article

A new honour to recognise lifesavers within Britain’s rail industry has been launched for this year’s RailStaff Awards.

The Network Rail/Samaritans Partnership is supporting the Samaritans Lifesaver Award, which aims to highlight the pre-emptive actions of station staff, train crew, track workers and many railway staff who, by timely intervention, have prevented a potential fatality.

The RailStaff Awards Scheme gives people the chance to nominate friends and colleagues they believe deserve wider acknowledgment for the contribution they make to the rail industry.

The awards started in 2007 to reward the great work done by people in the industry.

The event, which is being held in Birmingham on October 20, focuses on the people who deliver the services and infrastructure essential to the UK railway, round the clock, 365 days a year.
